Two Under 2

Rec your car!

We have a 2011 Ford Hybrid. It's nice, but our payments are ridiculous, our Britax seats are taking up the whole back seat, and it only gets 28mpg, which for being a pricey hybrid isn't amazing.

We are looking at the Mazda5 this weekend. But that still might be too small. We would like a third child eventually, and it may be worth it to just get a minivan now. I'm just curious what other vehicles you all are chocking full of kiddos?

I have a GMC Acadia and I LOVE my car!! We have captain's seats in the 2nd row and a bench for 3ppl in the 3rd row. Has all the room we need with 2!! I have fit 4 car seats (1 FFing and 3 RFing) and 2 adults with luggage and still had room for some things. There isn't much I don't like about my car!
  • We also have an Acadia.  However, we have a bench in the 2nd row.  I loooooooove it.  There is still a ton of space with the 3rd row up.  I like that I can crawl to the 2nd row and sit with the boys if needed (when DH is driving obviously.  Haha.)  I really like height of the seats for putting the infant seat in.  It is really easy on my back (and that matters with an 18+lb 3 month old.)

I haven't tried it yet, but I wanted an SUV that we could fit 3 carseats across the middle row.

  • I have a chevy traverse. It has a ton of room in it. That was the main reason we purchased it. The middle row has captains chairs allowing easy access to the third row. The middle row also moves back and forth allowing more room for RF carseats. I have a True Fit RF seat in the passenger side and the person in the front seat has a ton of room. My True Fit will not fit in my DH's truck or my mom's SUV. The third row also lays down flat providing a huge trunk space. I can fit our travel stroller and a cart full of groceries. With all that being said there are a few things I don't like about it. The quality if the materials in the car are not great. I traded in a Tahoe for this car and the plastic in the doors and even the floor mats are not as nice. But, I really needed more room. Looking back I wish I would have looked more at the Acadia. From what I understand it is almost the same as my car. We just are Chevy people.

  • I had a Cr-v, but we recently purchased a new Honda Pilot and I couldn't be happier! Although we have about two months until #2 is here, I wanted something bigger for multiple car seats. There is plenty of room for stuff in the back, and lots of room to "grow".  I knew I wanted an SUV.. I just couldn't bring myself to getting a van-yet.

    Things I like about it:

    Rows can lay down flat

trunk can open from a button on the key

    back up camera

    plenty of room!

The Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave have the same platform but different types of trim levels/price points.  (They are all made by General Motors.)

I have a Traverse and love it. I decided to get bench seats in the middle and now kind of wish we had gotten captains chairs to make it easier to get to the back seat. Other than that I love everything about it. There is tons of space plus lots of extras like navigation, remote start, and remote trunk open/close. We've fit four carseats in it(2FF and 2RF) with three adults and everyone had enough space. I can also put our double stroller in the back with the third row up.

Yes, I know they are all made by the same company. The car dealership that we like to deal with only sales chevy. So I didn't even go look at the inside of the Acadia. I was just curious if the interior was nicer than the traverse. I'm happy with my car.

We just looked at the Mazda5 and in my opinion it is way too small for 2u2. Personally, I'd go w/ a mini van. We also looked at the Pilot, but its just too darn easy getting to the car seats and back row in a mini van. Not sure if that is not an option, but we went w/ a Toyota Scienna. We were torn between it and a Honda Odyssey. I almost liked the Odyssey better but we were shopping used and the Scienna was just a better deal. But I love the Scienna. I am so happy I have it. I highly recommend auto sliding doors.
