Anyone have a good recipe? My aunt is having a cookout Sunday and I want to make something a little different (not the typical pasta salad or 7-layer dip). It can be anything. A side dish, dip, dessert... just something to share. Normally I can think of something but I'm drawing a blank. Thanks. :-D

Re: Cookout recipes?
Have you ever made broccoli slaw? It's so good! Here's Paula Deen's recipe:

I have two easy ones. This first one I got from my friend's mom, it's kindof like a homemade fresh salsa... sooo good. It really is addicting and really refreshing. (Sorry the only place I have this one documented is on my blog.... not trying to AW... scroll to the bottom part of the post)

This one is my go-to easy summer dessert recipe. If you don't have a trifle dish you can use just a large clear glass bowl. Again, light and refreshing on a summer day - and relatively guilt-free

Shrimp ceviche (no raw fish) - https://www.skinnytaste.com/2011/05/zesty-lime-shrimp-and-avocado-salad.html
---
"Pig's Delight" (dip, I usually bring pretzels with it)
1 package frozen spinach (the frozen "brick" in the box)
1 jar dried beef
1 cup mayo
1 cup sour cream
dill, to taste
garlic, to taste
Thaw and drain spinach. Chop dried beef into small pieces. Combine all ingredients, refrigerate for 8 hours before serving.
---
Balsamic Strawberries (and blueberries)
Strawberries, halved
Blueberries (optional)
Balsamic vinegar (start with about a tablespoon, add more if needed)
White Sugar (start with about a tablespoon, add more if needed)
Mix all ingredients and let marinade in the fridge for a couple hours. You can eat them as-is, or top with whipped cream, or use as a topping for ice cream.
I have been craving a lot of fruit lately but this is kind of simple but it is sooo good!
I just do a fresh fruit tray or bowl and for the dip I mix one jar of marshmallow fluff and one stick of cream cheese together. I know it may seem odd but it is soooo yummy!
