Great news! We saw the baby and saw the heart working! The baby even caught up on some growth and measured 7 weeks 1 day, which is fantastic. The doppler wasn't able to pick up the heartbeat to get a number, though. The nurse said that the baby is very close to the uterine wall and that was the reason. I questioned her several times and she said it was nothing to be concerned about at all. She said to give it a week and I go back in for another ultrasound next Thursday.

    My RE's doppler was also unable to pick up a reading on the heartbeat at 7w1d. We could see it beating but he said the heart was so small it was hard to pinpoint the machine's gauge to pick it up for long enough to get a read. He froze the picture and manually read it to be around 156.

    yah!! i'm so glad to hear that :) fwiw, i had an appt yesterday (i'm almost 10wks) and my OB didn't even take the heartbeat (we just saw it on the u/s). i think it's pretty normal this early on. congrats on your wonderful news!
