I know lots (LOTS) of little girls named Riley/Rylie. I don't think it ages well at all. I can't imagine being a professional woman with the name. NMS.
I think in the US it is more popular as a girl's name, but where I live (eastern Canada) I can honestly say I have only ever met 1 girl with the name vs the many boys I've met named Riley/Reilly (I'm a teacher). I think it's cutesy on a girl but I like it on a boy and think it would age better.
It's more popular now as a female name. Prior to naming my daughter the only Riley I knew was a boy growing up. Now that we're in a number of playgroups we've met a few other Rileys, all girls.
I used to like this name but I think I just know way too many now. Literally 5 under age of 6 I do think its mostly a girls name now though I have a good friend whose son is Riley and she is upset that all the other Rileys he is in school/camp with are girls
The first Riley I ever met was the reason I fell in love with the name.. he was an adorable 3 year old boy in the play school class I taught in high school. The other Riley I know is my friend's brother, and I think he's in his late teens or early 20's.
It's masculine to me. I'm irrationally angry about it's popularity for girls because it's just not a girl's name to me at all. Luckily it's more popular in my state for boys and it's not SUPER popular, so I started to reconsider it for a future boy. I love it but I don't know if I love it enough for my future son to feel like he has a girl's name because of the little girls with the name (and don't get me started on the terrible spellings.. why do people need to ruin a name?).
As for aging well, I think it would. I think knowing someone closer to my age with the name helps me see it on someone older, just like I started seeing Addison as a male name after meeting a male Addison closer to my age (the only one I knew previously was a friend's daughter).
I don't like this name at all. Not a fan of surnames for first names, especially for girls.
The waste in life lies in the love we have not given, the powers we have not used and the selfish prudence that will risk nothing; and which shirking pain, misses happiness as well.

I think of it as a name for a male. I used to really like it, but I think it's way overused now. Maybe just overused as a girl's name... I still like it for a boy.
Re: Riley
I'm not a big fan of surnames as first names unless it is a family name. Reilly/Riley definitely seems masculine to me.
However I know both a little boy and girl with this name.

I do not like it on a girl or a boy.

I think it ages well on guys. I know two very masculine men named Riley, so I associate it with males.
I hate it on girls. It's not feminine to me at all, the ones I know irl always have it misspelled, and it's not cute at all past the age of 5. Bleh.

I love Riley for both male and female.....unfortunately I know 3 dogs named Riley too:(
