Simple Math Problem that I'm WAY Overthinking

I feel like an idiot right now because this is super simple and yet my brain isn't processing the answer.  I have done this every month for almost 2 years, one would think I could do it in my sleep by now.

Ok, in April we went $143.00 over on one of the girls clothing  allowance, the balance forwards so we started May with a balance of -$143.00.  We have to spend $50 on clothing per month but we spent $43 in May.  Where am I at for June?

  • I love math. If I am understanding it correctly  you are at -136, meaning you gained 7 in May by underspending.  Unless I am not understanding.

  • I think that is nice you get a clothing allowance!

Here we get a small ($50 if you beg) allowance, one time only, only if it is the first time the kid is in care.   We had a kid show up with a T-shirt. In February. No shoes.  And needed to beg for reimbursement.

  • We get a one-time-only-for-each-child clothing allowance of, I think, $200.  Above that, we get reimbursed for anything we spend on their clothing.  I thought that sounded generous, and I guess I was right!

    That's awful!

We are required to spend $50 per month and have to account for it with receipts, it's not really an "allowance" per se.  Our kids have too many clothes, I've been trying not to buy new clothes so they can wear what they have and our balance can get closer to $0 but J is always buying them stuff.

Thats exactly what we get - and I didnt even know about it until baby #3...and you really do have to beg!

We've been told that we can get a $100 one time clothing check when the kids come into care but we've never seen it, the $50 a month has to cone out of our stipend.  I'm not sure if our stipend is generous compared to other places but our agency requires the clothing expense to come out of it.
