Oil cleansing method- questions

Hello,

I've been MIA for a few months, but need your input on this one! If you use the Oil Cleansing Method to wash your face, can you please answer these questions:

1- what type of skin do you have

2- What oil and in what proportion do you mix with the Castor Oil

3- How often to you use this wash

4- do you wear make up regularly

THANKS!!

I have combination skin and I um, kind of do the OCM, which is to say that I wash my face once a day with Ivory and follow up with coconut oil to moisturize. I have to admit I'm lazy though and just haven't looked for castor oil at the store.  I do wear makeup everyday.

  • Mostly oily skin, 31 years old.

I use 25% castor, 40% jojoba and 35% EVOO.  If I feel dry afterwards, I smooth on some additional jojoba (but I want to add rosehip oil as well)

I use OCM every night, and water only in the morning.  I just couldn't go back to soap at all.

I wear eyeliner and mascara every day, but only wear tinted moisturizer once a week or so.  I don't notice any difference in cleansing level with or without the tinted moisturizer, and the oil takes off my eye makeup in a snap.

  • Combination skin, and I use 30% castor oil and 70% sunflower seed oil. I wear makeup a couple times a week, and this takes the makeup off really well (even waterproof mascara).

Wait, what is this? I use jojoba as moisturizer and I know it takes off mascara if there's some under my eyes or on my eyelids after washing, but I can use oils only to actually CLEANSE? How does that work??

OMG Maggie it's the BEST!  https://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/

My skin is amazing now, and I have struggled with acne since age 12.

    Wow, that's crazy. I think I'll given it a try :)

It says to do it regularly, but not too frequently. So does that mean not daily? Does it have to be at night?

It is supposed to be at night so the oil can soak in and your skin can rest.  After reading a few forums (not sure the names, but I just google searched for reviews), I actually do it every night.  I think you can start with just replacing your exfoliating days (1-2 a week) with OCM.  Occasionally I feel to lazy to do it so I go back to my regular routine on those nights.
