Hi everyone. I like my OB because he?s really close to work and I never have to wait at appointments. I am now 20 weeks and am thinking about switching. I had my last ultra sound at 17 weeks 4 days and it was suppose to be my anatomy scan. They said they couldn?t measure anything because they?re really strict and say you have to be at least 19 weeks, so they just called it a routine ultra sound and told me it was a boy and I would have to come back for the anatomy. My OB sends me to the hospital to have these done because of my insurance so he sees the same report I do, which does not show any measurements. When I went in there today I asked when I could do the anatomy scan and he told me my last ultra sound was that. I told him that they said they didn?t do that and he said yes, they did. Why would the tech tell me she couldn?t measure? Would the radiologist go to the ultra sound after and look at the pics and take measurements of the heart, etc? I just feel so uninformed. I don?t believe they did the anatomy scan and don?t know why he won?t send me back.
Re: May need to switch OB's at 20 weeks :( WDYT?
Currently going through our second deployment. Can't wait for Zoe to meet her daddy!
Agreed. My regular doctor and OB stopped doing deliveries so she started to see me for my first and then referred me to another OB at 24 weeks. I love the OB she sent me to, when I found out I was pg with #2, I called him right away! At my 6 week pp check-up after #1 he asked if I had any questions and I said will you be around for the next 2-3? He is older (70's) and head of the OB dept at the hospital I go to as well as has his own private practice. He has seen/done it all! Sometimes switching can be a good thing.
If you feel uncomfortable with the doctor I would switch. I did.
I just switched OB's as of today and I will be 20 weeks tomorrow. I have a clotting issue and my original OB didn't seem to know too much about the disorder and was very nonchalant about the whole situation.
Anyways, I just had my first appointment with the new practice and the midwife told me I was switching at the perfect time being so late to switch due to the fact I'm switching in between my two anatomy scans (had one at 16 weeks and scheduled for a follow up at 20-22 wks).
I feel so much better about the new practice. The midwife knew more about my situation than the previous OB. Plus my hematologist is right across the street from the new office.
