Any successful VBAC at Northside?

I want to try for a VBAC in September at Northside and got to OBGYN of Atlanta. I have been pretty much discouraged each time, even though they say they "support" it but every time they try to talk me out of it (holding pee problems in the future, bla bla bla)

Has anyone had a successful VBAC here? I am getting discouraged this is not something quite done even though they "say" they do.

I have a 22 month old now, so was hoping for a VBAC...

I delivered my DS at Northside and ended up a c/s after they induced me at 40w. This time around I changed practices in order to get my VBAC and will deliver at North Fulton. I consulted with a few practices that delivered at NS but each time I got the distinct feeling that they were telling me what I wanted to hear in the early stages and then were going to bait and switch me once it was too late and railroad me into a RCS. I have a girlfriend that stayed with the same practice for her 2nd and they did it to her. I also know of others that this happened with as well. It all depends on the practice but I got the feeling that NS is not a very VBAC friendly hospital. GL finding a practice. I hope you get the birth experience that you want this time around.

I VBAC'ed at Atlanta Medical Center with Intown Midwifery. I can honestly say that my midwife literally pulled every trick in the book to get my baby here safely and it WORKED.

I was with Atlanta Women's Specialists near N'side because they said they'd do a VBAC, however they put far too many restrictions on it. Not good enough for me. Explore making the trek to Atlanta and book an appt. with Intown Midwifery. Dr. Bootstaylor (that supports the practice) is an absolute rock star.

Thanks ladies.. but going to Northside is already pushing it distance wise for me, I am 5 min away from Kennestone...  I heard good things of Dr Tate and also Intown Midwifery.. but was hoping to stay closer, even though if they keep this up, I WILL travel.. I just don't feel this is going to happen if I stay with them.. but it's going to such distance wise..

its not the hospital, it is the doctor.  find a dr/midwife/etc that fully supports it.  it isn't the hospital.

I go to OBGYN of Atlanta and am beyond happy with the midwives but I doubt you'll get your VBAC there. I know 3 VBAC stories none of which happened at NS. If you really want the vbac talk to Intown Midwifery like Myra suggested.

Ditto heather.  I know of two friends that have had VBACs at Northside.  It is all going to depend on your doctor/practice.  If it is really important to you and you don't feel that you are getting support from your current practice then you may want to consider switching now.  Good luck!

I had a VBAC with Dr. Alarcon.  He told me his wife had two successful VBACS.  They deliver out of Kenneston.  I had two really great deliveries there myself.

I agree.. I will go crazy if they bring up RCS one more time, but in the meantime looking elesewhere, the one at Kennestone looks promising. I read about a Dr Randell also near Northside, but not sure about his VBAC rate..

    Thanks ladies!

Hmmmm... I thought OBGYN of Atlanta was pro VBAC? I go there, and I haven't decided if I am going to do a c-section or VBAC... but they keep asking me every time which I plan on doing. They seem completely fine if I decide to do VBAC and they have have not given me any reason why I shouldn't go through with VBAC. Good luck with whatever you decide!

They say it.. and since my first appt at 8 weeks he told me to just "schedule it" I was SO mad.. then 2x afterwards they come down with this whole just schedule it, you will pee when you sneeze crap.. which my husband was totally on the side of the dr.. I was SO mad.. I told them to let me TRY it first.. I totally understand there is a chance I will have a RCS... but they have been super pushy and were trying to get me to schedule it again last visit.. Dr Wooten first time, Dr Fairbrother last visit.. next visit I will ask how many successful VBAC's they have had, and I will know then what to do.

I highly, highly recommend checking out the ICAN Atlanta board and asking them, they have a lot of info on good providers for VBACs (although at the end of the day the 2 most highly recommended over and over are Intown Midwifery and Dr Tate)

No advice on VBAC as I was a very happy RCS mommy :-)  Anyway, I did want to say that if you like the doc that delivers at Kennestone, I think you will be VERY happy delivering there.  I had both my babies there and even w/ the C/S neither child was out of my sight (well DS ended up going to the NICU but that was almost 1 hour after birth).  And even with the surgery, I was nursing them both within 15 min of birth (yes you read that right!- DH clocked it) and they have the best LC's in Atlanta.  NICU experience was equally awesome (heaven forbid you should need it, its good to know its there!)

My friend did, but she had both a midwife and a doula working on her behalf.

Dr.Tate is awesome! Him and is staff are very supportive of VBACs. I went to Dr.Randell at 9wks pregnant and when I asked about a VBACS he totally shut me down. I did alot of research and switched to Dr. Tate. Emory Midtown, the hospital Dr.Tate delivers at is a more VBAC friendly hospital. Good luck

I had an unscheduled c/s at Emory Midtown and they assured me that a VBAC was still an option for #2,
