My MW and chiro both advocate probiotics for every client, so I think it is a great idea, though a diverse probiotic is probably more beneficial than just acido. In addition to helping digestion and YI, when you push baby out having loads of good flora in the birth canal from probiotics is very healthy for baby. Probiotics can also help lessen the chance of Strep B +.
I use Ultimate Flora Vaginal Support...as I had recurrent bv pre-pregnancy. It works like a charm and can't live without it now!!! Try it. And! The price went down $10 recently!! $40 for a bottle of 60 capsules (two month supply). Look on Amazon, they have best prices and I can always find it there.
My OB recommended eating an activia every day. When I got sick & they had to put me on broad spectrum antibiotics, my doctor had me get chewable probiotics from the pharmacist. I did a full course of seriously powerful broad plectrum antibiotics without getting a YI. Yay for probiotics!
You definitely want something with a live strain (needs to be refrigerated). I like garden of life brand for women as its raw food based with no funky ingredients. I agree with pp, populating the birth canal with healthy bacteria before birth is great at boosting babies immune system and fighting off neuro inflammation.
