Car Seat Question

Our girls are starting to outgrow their infant car seats already at 5 months. Any suggestions on affordable car seats that I can purchase that will last a little while?  Of course comfort and safety are important too.

Re: Car Seat Question

  • We have the Graco MyRide 65 seats for the twins. We've only been using them for a couple of months but we've been pretty happy with them.

  • The next car seats will last until you're ready for booster seats, so I would just go with the ones you like best--there isn't that much difference in car seat prices when you consider how long these next seats will last you.  We use Britax Marathons & Advocates, but they are HUGE (but super comfy and considered very safe).  We have two marathons and one advocate between three cars.  And we'll probably just move them all to my new van when the twins outgrow their infant seats, and replace the ones in my husband's truck and/or car with these: https://www.amazon.com/Diono-RadianR120-Convertible-Seat-Storm/dp/B005MQR8JI/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pdT2_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=1G6K2DS1V2LKY&coliid=IXXMVK38PQI0I

If you are having more kids, you might want the Radian's because they are the narrowest--you are supposed to be able to get 3 to a row in a regular four door car.

  • We have our triplets 3 to a row in radian 80sl's. They do extended rear facing until 45 lbs...we follow the new AAP guide lines and don't turn our kiddos around until they are at least 2. Once you do turn front facing the seat then goes to 80lbs or 53" you would get a lot of use out of them and they are narrow so the 3 to a row thing is awesome. They are a bit more expensive but in the long run it is worth it.
