Snuggin Go positioner?

Anyone used the Snuggin Go positioner for the stroller? I know some people say not to use any positioners, but my LO and I go for a walk every day that is about 45-60min and she is in her carseat that attaches to the stroller. She always falls asleep and ends up scotting down in the seat. Would something like this help her stay in a better position?

Re: Snuggin Go positioner?

  • It's a no from the manufacturer, for sure if you are using it the car seat in the car. If your stroller has a flat or low incline recline, why not just put her straight in there?

It kind of sounds like she's not positioned correctly in her car seat, and the positioner won't solve that. When you put her in the seat, is her bum all the way to the back? What position is the crotch buckle in, underneath her, in line with the front of her diaper, or is there a gap? How about the harness strap - the slot that it's currently coming out of, is it above or below her shoulder, and where is the next slot in comparison.

Also, what kind of give does the harness have in it, can you pinch it together? Start pulling at the strap that comes out by the legs, pull each until it's flat but not tight, and pull it through the crotch connectors, through the chest clip and passed her shoulders to remove any slack. If the harness is adjusted correctly, lo shouldn't be sliding anywhere. You can use a rolled up receiving blanket along side her head and legs, but not underneath or behind her anywhere. The roll in the picture underneath the crotch is only ever recommended as a fix for preemies, never any other time.

    Hope that helps!

  • Hi,

I'm sorry, but I completely disagree.  I bought my sister a Snuggin Go after her baby was born just over 5lbs.  She had tried everything to fill in the gaps at the sides, and behind the crotch buckle.  The nurses at the hospital had told her to roll up a washcloth to place behind the crotch strap, because they are not positioned properly unless there bums are right up against the back of the seat. (not just for preemies).   They also said to roll receiving blankets on either side.  And in my opinion, no "head hugger"  on the market works to help an infants' head from falling forward. (I tried them all with my daughter)  . We really felt the Snuggin Go did all of these things.   And who wants to re-roll and re-position blankets everytime you put your baby in the carseat?  That's ridiculous if you have other options.  And as far as what is a "no" under Canadian manufacturer guidelines-well it's just not that simple.   My sister and I researched it, and although it's true manufactures don't encourage you to alter the contents of their seat (the reasons for that are quite obvious to me), there is a definite need for added padding.  Just look at the way carseats are changing.  They are trying to achieve more support in all different areas.  And ask a Doctor how well a baby breathes when their head is flopped forward for 3 hours....I have a medical background, and seeing my own kids in this position was quite daunting.

Transport Canada is a governing body, yes, but they have no jurisdiction in terms of placing "legal requirements" on aftermarket car seat products.  (Otherwise it would be illegal to sell them and you would not see them in stores).   They are simply there to provide "guidelines" for parents to follow.  Some of what they say is open to interpretation. (ie. "nothing should interfere with any part of the harness).    Unfortunately, for us as parents,  this a very confusing topic due to lack of proper information provided in the media.

I wouldn't dismiss the Snuggin Go before doing some of your own research.

I have to agree though, that you are better off in a conventional stroller when walking with a newborn...yet suddenly you have another issue--newborns don't  have enough support in a regular stroller seat.    Aha!   Try your Snuggin Go....

  • OMG YES YES YES Use a Snuggin Go!  I love mine!  DS is so comfy and supported in our jogging stroller and I also have one in his rear facing carseat.

I had ordered mine online.  Not sure where you can get them in a store?
