I don't know exactly how old, but I think it varies from baby to baby. Talk to your pediatrician about it.
My friend's little girl was eating rice cereal mixed in her formula at 3 months because her doctor told them to. But she had a heart problem (I don't know if it had anything to do with this or not). I just know that they told their doctor that the baby was eating A LOT and often so they gave her the rice cereal to keep her full for longer (:
I'm hoping my little guy will be able to eat rice cereal in his formula in a month. He isn't even 2 months old yet and he can eat almost 7 ounces in one sitting! He's gaining weight like crazy too but I'm happy about it (:
I'm lurking, trying to remember what this stage was like, so forgive me.
Don't put it in their bottles...it causes them to suck too hard on the nipple, and may cause ear aches. You could definitely water it down with formula and spoon feed. I think we did this with DS around 3 months.

It is meant to be mixed with formula and spoon fed. However, our pedi gave the okay for mixing 1 tsp per 2 ounces to help with spitup since he wasn't doing it much but enough. We started it after our 2 month checkup
You don't, unless your child has reflux. You can feed it to them on a spoon when your pedi clears them, usually between 4-6 months. Some signs LO is ready for spoon feeding are: sitting up with assistance, no tongue thrust, and an interest in food.
You should not put rice cereal in a bottle. Babies digestive systems cannot handle it until about 4 months. Your baby should be able to hold their head up and push food to the back of their throat to swallow. This usually happens between 4-6 months. Also, their are alternatives for rice cereal which are healthier for your LO. Rice cereal is processed white rice cereal which is empty calories. I will not be giving it to my DD. as an alternative we will feed her whole grain baby cereal, oatmeal,, avocado, sweet potato, etc.
4 months is what is recommended around here. I have heard that some people recommend never using it and starting with regular baby food at 6 months and that is our current plan.
I put 1/4-1/2 tsp in DD's bedtime bottle so she won't wake up every 2.5 hrs. She has never had any problems but I did have to move up to the level 2 nipples. Our doc said to start really feeding it to her at 4 months--- i assume he means spoon feed.
Cereal in formula is a no-no. It's known to be unsafe do unless your pedi recommends it for a GOOD reason--dont do it. Also, why feed rice cereal (or anything else) until the pedi gives the go ahead?? The EARLIEST I've heard is 4m.
