High-Risk Pregnancy

SCH causes risks later in pregnancy (even after resolved)??

I see some posters mention how a subchorionic hematoma can cause problems later in the pregnancy, even after it has already resolved, such as placental abruption. What is your understanding?

I am currently taking time out of work (but not on complete bed rest) due to an SCH that is slowly getting smaller. Hoping that once it has resolved, it's over and done with and won't cause anymore issues (as I've already had several bleeding episodes).

This pregnancy has been so tough on me emotionally. First I found out I have a bicornuate uterus and then had a large SCH. It just sucks to think I'm never going to feel "safe" throughout this whole pregnancy.

  • Yup - abruption, growth restriction, preterm labor.

    I had 2 out of 3.

Glad it's slowly resolving.  I know how scary it is!

Oh great, because with the bicornuate uterus, I am already at risk for growth restriction and preterm labor. Sometimes I just want to give up on trying to be positive at all about this. I'm so worried about what the future holds. :(

  • Stay positive!

Despite everything that happened to me....my kids are almost 2 and perfectly healthy!  I understand mourning the loss of an easy pregnancy.  Those girls just have no clue how easy they have it.  Trust me it makes you appreciate your kids much, much more when the journey to get there is a rocky road.

Don't assume the worst will happen but be very proactive.  I just knew at 23 weeks that my contractions were real, and they were.  I ended up on bedrest and mad it to 36 weeks.

Assume the worst and hope for the best!!

  • Stay positive! Just because it can happen doesn't mean it will. Ask your doctor about what to know regarding future risks during the pregnancy and take deep breaths.

I had a sch and gd and everything worked out fine. it can happen.

  • There's mixed thoughts that it "could" be an indication of other problems yes... for instance, I had one, then got preeclampsia with my last pregnancy and I know several women who had this as well.  That being said SCH is very common, and way more women have one and don't go on to cause other problems... so who knows...?  Pregnancy is just so uncertain.
