What say ye Bump? Sandbox sand

I want to get Chickadee a sand box.  Do you guys just get play sand from a hardware store? Or do you use gravel or "safe sand"? Is safe sand necessary?

 I can't make a linky, but this blog describes the danger of regular sand.

You want to make sure it's play sand-not just any old sand.

Even Lowes sells play sand.

Standard play sand can still contain the silica dust.

I bought the crayola colored sand because it's really cool.  Olivia picked out pink, purple and green.  I have no idea how safe or not safe it is. But we've had it since last year and we're all still kickin'.

I wondered about this sand - I've heard it will dye you different colors if it gets wet.  What do you think about this?  Is your kid dyed like an Easter egg yet?    I saw it at the store and thought it looked cool and wanted it!

No one looks like an easter egg yet. I thought for sure it would fade and we would need new stuff this year but it still looks great.

Walmart was the only place I could find it locally.

I've seen play sand sold at TRU recently too now that all of the outdoor toys are out on display.

Thanks for posting wife!  I'll have to check my local walmart to see if they sell it.  Colored sand is even better! =-)
