Hi everyone. I've been lurking on this board forever and the time has come for me to ask questions.
DS is about 3 weeks and just over 7 pounds. We are about out of our disposibles, so would like to start in cloth. We have XS Rumparooz and Bummis covers as well as newborn size prefolds. We tried with a tri-fold in the cover last week, and had leaks with both of his poops so then stopped.
My question is which folds have you found successful for NB boys? Any other tips?
Thanks!
Re: Best fold for newborn boys?
I like the jelly roll, there ends up being some extra fabric in front to catch urine, but also hold in poop well.
That being said, poop still gets on our covers sometimes. Just remember, he'll start pooping less, and as long as it's just on your covers (and not on you!) it's not a big deal just to wash.
I also have loved the angel wing fold and the only "poosplosions" have been inside the cover and not at all on his clothes. I experimented with the other folds a little bit but I guess I just personally prefer to do it one way. Just start trying them and see what you like!
eta: Really the most important thing is making sure that the cover is on snug and the prefold is not sticking out anywhere.
