I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm all about nursing for the first year with all my children and now that number two is on the way what tips do you have to make nursing easier?
Find a toddler safe area in your house so you can either let your toddler run around while you nurse in another room, or you can nurse (I suggest finding a low chair close to the floor, or on the floor) in the same room. The older ones always enjoyed bringing me toys and books to read while I was nursing the baby. We practiced A LOT of letters and numbers too! GL!
I agree with MammaBear - and as hard as it is with BFing, try to get the baby on a schedule. It was much easier to plan my day when I knew she was going to be eating about every 2-3 hours, and not just attached to my boob. I would try to manage it so that DD ate before DS got up, right before we would leave the house to do something, when we got home and DS was eating lunch, at the end of DS's nap, during DS's dinner, and after he went to bed. That way he was always occupied while the baby was eating. It didn't always work out that way, but I tried!
I agree with both PPs. My kids tend to fall into a every 2-3 hrs schedule during the day at 2-3 months old, and at night they stretched it out longer by then. Before 2 months I would nurse on demand as well, but it was 1-2 hrs for the first 6 wks or so. Just make sure you get your older one set up with w snack, toys, TV or books when you notice baby needs to eat.
Its very doable and is easier in the long run with 2 u 2.
