Are these
Mega Bloks a good toy for 10-12 months? I am kind of at a loss when it comes to toys. I want to make sure I have developmentally appropriate and good learning toys around the house. Not just annoying flashy ones with bad music, LOL. Any recs?
Re: Mega Bloks
We just got them for Abby's birthday yesterday. She likes to carry around the bag and dump them out, but she doesn't fully understand to build with them yet. We still build towers and knock them down with soft and wooden blocks!
My Birth Story
They're a little beyond him now, but I like them because we can keep them around for years. My cousin's 3.5 year old was playing with them yesterday. So for now, they're fun because they're colorful and make a noise when you dump them (although i only take out the whole bin occasionally).

Lol, you post just reminded me that I have somewhere in my garage a super huge box of blocks that I save from when DD1 was a baby (she will be 9yo in June) for one day for my next child. DD#2 will be 1 on Wed. so your post just reminded me I have this treasure hidden somewhere in my garage!
I saw those in Target and want to get them for DD's first birthday. The package said ages 1-5. I checked out the reviews on Amazon and a lot of people said their LO's around age 1 loved them. The link you posted doesn't look like it has reviews, but this is another seller and they have over 100 reviews on this link....

I think the "fill and spill" concept starts to become really fun at this age. Melissa & Doug makes some really cute things - bugs that fit in jars and such, like the above food/grocery bag. We have a Manhattan Toy bird house and he likes to dump them, then put each bird back in.
My son is very into dropping balls into things - basketball kind of concept, but they have similar toys for girls. Here are some things non-lights/sounds toys on my list for his 1st bday:
