We've narrowed down our list to a few classic names - Elizabeth, Charlotte, Caroline - but also like Sawyer as an option. Definitely understand it's traditionally a boy's name, but think it could be perfect for a spunky little girl. Thoughts?
I dislike it for a boy. I refuse to acknowledge that there are people in the world who would use it for a girl.

I actually know an adorable little girl named Sawyer, but you're not going to get a lot of love on this board. How about moving it to the middle name spot, i.e., Caroline Sawyer? Nice!

No. Absolutely not. Stick with the classic. She may thankyou later on in life. Or use Sawyer for the mn.
My name was going to be Kyle right up to the day my Mom went into labor. While at the hospital my Dad convinced my Mom to go with Amy instead. She relented but changed my name to the French spelling Aimee. I have to say, I'm pretty happy for that last minute decision.
The only Sawyer I know IRL is an adorable little girl. To me it's weird to see it as a boy name. I like it, but like a pp said you will not get much love for a "boy name" on a girl.

Elizabeth, Charlotte and Caroline are classic, beautiful, feminine names. I'm really surprised you even like Sawyer. It doesn't "fit" with those other names at all. I HATE it for either sex, but especially terrible for a girl.
Going to summer camp as a kid I was really good friends with a girl my age (around 26 now) named Sawyer. I never thought it was an odd name before; uncommon, yes, but not odd. And I think the name fit her well.

You're not naming a little girl. You are naming a person who will only be a little girl for a short part of her life. Pick a name that works for a grown woman.

Hate it for boy ...even worse for a girl. Your other choices are SOO much better!
What if she's not "spunky"?
Aside from it being a boy's name- it will be totally time-stamped to the 2010's.
Elizabeth ??
Charlotte ??
Caroline ??
