Cloth Diapering

Does PUL need to be dried in a dryer to work?

I have purchased some used diapers, but I'm also planning on getting a few new ones.  I'm planning on washing my diapers by hand (with a stick washer thing) and line or rack drying, but I read somewhere that to make PUL completely waterproof you have to dry it in the dryer a few times to seal the fibers.  Do any of you know if that's true or not?

  • It is best to throw PUL in the dryer every so often to reseal it where it's been stitched.

Usually, a hot dry is recommended to "seal" the PUL after sewing (to seal around the stitch holes), or occasionally after use to re-seal. I generally line dry mine with no problems.
