I post on IF but thought you ladies may have some insight. I was diagnosed with mod OHSS. My beta is still a week away (5/3) and I know that if the ET was successful there is a possibility that the OHSS could actually get worse.
Right now it's very uncomfortable to lay down and my belly is distended but I have been able to avoid the hospital and my Dr. Says just to watch my breathing and urine color (sorry! Tmi?) What can I expect from here on out? How long will this last if this ET failed ? Or, if you have experience- How long will this last if it turns out I am pregnant? Will I have to keep up the high protein/Gatorade/ salt diet much longer?
Yesterday a co-worker asked if I was pregnant, I posted about it on IF. It was really aggravating. I'd appreciate any insight!
Edited to include another question.
Re: Calling all OHSS vets
If you have late-onset OHSS (as in, not right after the retrieval, but a few days after the transfer), which it sounds like you do, that is a very good sign you are pregnant. My fingers are crossed for you!
That happened to me-- I developed OHSS on day 10/ 11 after a day 5 transfer. I literally retained 5 lb of water overnight. I was super uncomfortable but also managed to avoid the hospital. It did turn out I was pregnant, but I'm sorry to tell you it did last several weeks -- I started to release the bloating around 5 weeks pregnant (so I was really bloated about 2-3 weeks?). I looked as pregnant as a friend who was actually 17 weeks pregnant during that time, couldn't button any pants, etc.
Hang in there, I really really hope it signals good news for you!
