little dots on DD's cheekbone

I noticed last night that DD had these really fine dots (almost like someone drew on her with a fine point red pen) on her cheekbone, kind of under he eye.  they're not raised, and it's not anywhere else.  She's really got no other symptions, other than she's just been kind of moody and clingy this week.

anyone else see something like this on their LO?  Any clue what it is?

Re: little dots on DD's cheekbone

  • My DD gets this often, and for her it is always from drool.  Odd that she also gets it by her eyes, but she does somehow.  It's usually just around her mouth/chin, but she's also had it by her nose & eyes.  She sucks her thumb when she sleeps, so I'm guessing it gets on her hands, and her skin is just very sensitive.  Maybe the same thing your DD has?

  • Could it be petechiae? (small broken blood vessels).  It can be caused by hard bouts of coughing, vomiting, or crying.   DS gets it around his eyes and on his cheekbones occasionally.  I think it is from his temper tantrums :(

I called the doctor and that's what they think it is.  They told me to keep an eye on it and if it spreads or gets worse to come in.  It's already starting to fade and is more brown now than red, so that's what I think it is.  She's 3 so tempertantrums are VERY common in our household!
