Similac Soy (Isomil)??

Does anyone have experience with this formula? The doctor had me switch to soy yesterday b/c DD is too fussy and gassy. We switched from Nutramigen. I chose this one instead of Prosobee.

Do you think Isomil works well? Does it cause terrible constipation? Will that constipation eventually go away? Is Prosobee any better? Or even Good Start Soy?

Thanks

Re: Similac Soy (Isomil)??

  • our dd had horrible constipation with both similac soy and prosobee. to the point where there would be blood sometimes from straining so hard. pedi told us that its the soy that is constipating, regardless of the brand. so we switched to enfamil gentlease and it took awhile for her body to adjust but she is doing great on it now! all of this started because she was originally on similac advance and she kept spitting up A LOT!

  • We started using the Target brand of formula in soy, and Sophie has been much less fussy overall since. I haven't noticed any constipation - rather, the opposite. I think she's been more regular lately. But that could be due to an increase in BFing, too.
  • Our LO is exclusively formula fed and on Similac Soy Isomil.  She is doing really well on it!  1-2 BMs a day, no constipation.  She likely got my whey protien allergy, because other formulas (Similac Advances, Enfamil Gentlease, and Similac Allimentium) produced lots of gas, fussiness and diarreah.  She has been on it for over a month with no issues.  I'm so glad we finally found a formula for her after trying these other three!

  • We tried a lot of other formulas and the Similac Soy is the only one she did well on.  She has at least 1 BM a day, sometimes 3.  She isn't constipated anymore and she passes gas much more easily.  It has been a life saver!

  • Our Pedi recommended Isomil because regular Similac was really rough on her tummy. She would projectile vomit everything in her stomach within an hour after eating it. She seems to love it, but boy is she gassy! She never seems to be bothered by the gas, she just farts All. The. Time. She's happy though so I'm afraid to switch it!
