  • Wow! Hopefully they'll be a big help. Three teenage girls...that should be fun. Wink

I'm the oldest and my youngest sister is 4, so I grew up with big age gaps too.

  • This is our first baby...but...I am 12 years older than my brother.  There is an 8 year age gap between him and my other brother.  Now that I am married and moved out, it is cool that he gets to come to our house and spend the night.  It makes him feel cool to talk about his brother in law the fact that he will be a 13 year old uncle!

  • My aunt's sons were 18 and 13 when her daughter was born. The boys LOVED having a little sister and she LOVES having two big brothers around to be all protective and cute. She's kind of an only child at this point (they've both gone to college, gotten married, etc) and is also the only grandchild that's still a child. She eats it up. Always the center of attention.

  • My mom just had her 5th. I'm the oldest and my brothers are 15, 7, 3, and 2 weeks old. So I am 11 years apart from my 7 year old brother, and I loved it! My mom got a lot of help from me so enjoy it(:

  • I'll have an 11 year age gap between this one and the second.  I also have a large age gap between myself and my youngest siblings.  My youngest sister is only 2 years older than my DS.  There's a 17 year age gap between us.

It's not that bad from a sibling point of view.  I was actually the one who watched my youngest brother (13 year age gap) and younger cousin while my step mother was in the hospital in labor with my sister.

From the point of view of the mom about to have a large age gap, it's kind of scary, honestly.  I really do feel like I'm totally starting over.

  • I am 10 years older than my younger brother, and my two brothers are 13 years apart.  We all have wonderful relationships and couldn't imagine it any other way!

  • My sibling situation is very similar, but even more spread. There are 17 years separating my oldest and youngest sibling. My older brother and sister are 2 years apart, then I came 5 years later, then my baby sister 10 years later. Of all my siblings, I'm closest to my baby sister. It'll be great for your #4 to have the increased maturing and wisdom of older siblings. It's been a good experience for me!
  • Yes me!!! I have never experienced to many with similar ages. Just had #4 in July. Mine are 15,14,11,9 months. I feel a lot calmer than I did before as a parent, not really sure if I like that or not it mean's I have to admit I am older! Good Luck and Congrat's!Big Smile

I wanted to add that I have one boy and the rest girl's and they all help with the baby and love on her it is very sweet and not really what I expected, since my oldest daughter was not really to excited when she found out.

  • @sozimek about your question on midnight feeding's diaper's do the older one's help out?  the bump would not let me quote--go figure

Not at night I have never really asked them to help then. But I will occassionally leave them  with her no more than an hour, the one time I did leave her she was like 5 months old and me and my husband where gone maybe two hour's and they called us in a panic because she had been crying for an hour! When we got home my oldest daughter was crying also and asking us why we left them with her. She is 14 so a lot of drama is needed right know  for her to express herself! Anyway's just short periods I leave them but they totally help with feeding's and changing and some bath's. They usually volunteer I never make them. Have fun!!!
