Daycare schedule advice

Hello.  Hubby and I have to leave little one in daycare while I work part-time.  My question is: What's the best schedule and why?  We think that it would be best to have him in daycare for mornings 5 days a week, but people keep telling me that that's such an odd schedule.  We think it's best that DS have a more consistent schedule (especially since we're having trouble getting him to take a bottle instead of breast).

Can anyone advise on whether it's better to work 5 mornings a week or 2.5 full days and why?  Thanks![Poll]

Re: Daycare schedule advice

  • Option 2 is what I do. I like not having to wake up early and get DC stuff packed 2 days a week. I lose a lot of time with commuting also so I like commuting fewer times a day. Also I don't have to wash my pump parts or pocket diapers for those days.

  • We have DD in daycare 3 full days a week and I am home with her 2 days.  It does mean she goes back and forth but she has adjusted quite well and for me I'd rather work full days then half days and figured for consistency I wanted her home or at daycare for the whole day.
  • For your DD, I would think consistency would be best. I'd do mornings all week long. My daycare teachers would tell you that kids always have the roughest time oMondays because they're getting back to school after being home all weekend.

  • I think it would be easier to get on a schedule if LO was going for a bit each day.

Also, DD was horrible at taking a bottle before going to daycare. They worked with her and she got okay it. They had much better luck then we ever did. She had pretty much transitioned to sippy cup now though.
