M/c was something I never thought about and something I never knew was so horrifically bad. Once again in life, I learned my lesson the hard way.
I had some bleeding and brown spotting with no cramps (normally I have cramps the 1st day) at the time of my period, so I didn?t think I was pregnant. (although knew there was a chance). When I called dr., the nurse said it was most likely an irregular period since I had traveled to Asia.
The bleeding stopped but I was incredibly hungry, craving meat and pork ? 2 things I never eat. My boobs also killed every day.
At 5 weeks the bleeding turned bright red and heavier. So I thought, a late normal period. I let this go on for 2 days.
The third day I woke up to non stop bleeding and clotting. Went to ER where I was hemmorighing for 6 hours. Then continued heavy clots/bleeding for 8 hours. Not much cramps.
I thought I was dying of blood loss.
2 days after mc I had terrible cramps and headache. Supposedly the uterus has to shrink back to normal so this causes cramps. The headache is from the blood/iron loss.
Hcg levels have dropped from day of mc 3,500 to 1,000 2 days later (I was first told incorrectly by nurse they were raising- I freaked out and thought I had a twin still! Again, people can be morons. Prepare yourself).. Dr. says normal to take a while to get back to 5.
Cramping is less. Sonogram showed only 1 blood clot left to release naturally.
I want to share tips since I knew NOTHING about a miscarriage and didn?t know the chances were so high at all.
If you have light bleeding and brown spotting- definitely go to the doctor.
I have never gone to the hospital in my life but am glad I got myself there. I could not imagine going through that on my own without an IV. The doctor can also remove clots, which will help the cervix to close and control bleeding. Also you need to get checked that it is not an ectopic pregnancy, which is much more dangerous.
Do not let yourself think you are going to die from the blood loss like I did. Stay calm as best you can. Nurse told me there is so much extra blood, etc. that the conception formed that you are losing the extra blood. This made me feel better.
REST, REST, REST! Get a dr. note and take off from work. Iron, pre-natal tabs and liquid chloryphill. Vitamin C, Vitamin E, folic acid and a B complex viamin. Vitamin Water, Smart Water.
I read red raspberry leaf tea (or capsules) will help the uterus.
Stay off of Facebook. How the hell do these people put up sonogram pictures at 3 months??? Do they not know how common miscarriage is? (I didn?t) and would never announce my pregnancy, if I ever have one again, until 5 months.
People will say annoying/stupid things. When I wasn?t drinking at a company dinner. Loud mouth co-worker announced to everyone that I must be pregnant.
It was awful.
You WILL feel better. If you treat yourself well, go easy and get the proper nutrition.
It?s okay if you don?t want to talk to a single person. I?ve hardly talked to anyone but my boyfriend all week.
Oh, and I?m hearing red wine helps any left over pain so that?s what I?ll be doing this weekend.
My best to everyone going through this ? Take care.
