Hi, So my husband gained weight during my pregnancy which I know is very common. The problem is he is squeezing himself into pants that no longer fit. Every day he takes a long time trying to find something to wear to work, ends up being late, and is in a rotten mood bc he feels fat (he isn't fat). I got him a giftcard to buy new pants that fit. Well he went to Old Navy and just bought the same size pants he already has at home! The new ones look just as terrible as the old ones- he has a muffin top, and the pants are super tight in the thighs and butt! I tried talking to him about exchanging them for the next size and he refuses. I tried telling him it's better for the pants to look good and for him to feel comfortable and that the number on the tag isn't as important. He doesn't agree and can't explain why he feels that way. What more can I say to try to convince him to wear the right size? Btw, he is wearing a 34 waist and really needs a 36 - he isn't fat, and he does go to the gym and eat healthy most of the time. Thanks in advance for your advice!

Re: Need Advice - Husband has gained weight
I could've written this exact post. He doesn't understand that he'd be so much more comfortable in the right size clothes. Plus he hates clothes shopping with a fiery passion. He wears his clothes until he literally can't anymore.
I'll suggest to you what I need to do with MH. Go out and buy him the bigger clothes he actually needs, then put away his old stuff so he can't find it. He'll have no choice but to wear the right size. After a week in the right size, he won't want to wear the too small stuff again.
I agree that you should buy him a bigger size, and then whenever he wears them, send a few compliments his way. Something little like "Oh wow, those pants make your butt look so good!" or whatever will stroke his ego.
I shamelessly do this with my boyfriend all.the.time.
