Introducing Lucas Daniel... (PIP) long

Lucas Daniel was born at exactly 39 weeks on Saturday April 7, 2012 at 3:04pm. I had been scheduled for an induction due to GD on Monday April 9 but he decided to join us on his own.

I woke up on Saturday around 4:30am with contractions 10 min apart. I sleep on and off until about 8am when I decided that this might be the real deal and got out of bed. I had some breakfast and started timing the contractions, they were now 6 minutes apart. I got my hubby out of bed and let him know what was going on. I went to pee and get a shower and LITERALLY yelled out when i went to wipe. OH. MY. GOD. Bloody show is the most disgusting thing ever. It was all bloody and mucus-y and I got not get it to wipe away. There was a TON! My hubby came running to the bathroom and i told him- We're having this baby today! I jumped in the shower as he packed up some last minute stuff. The contractions started getting stronger so I called my OB. She told me to head on in.

We arrived at the hospital around 9:30am. They took me right to a room and checked me- i was 5 cm! The Dr. looked at us and said "okay, we're gonna get ya admitted and have a baby today!" My hubby called his family... and of course it went straight to voice mail. (not sure if you remember my in-law rant from a couple weeks ago... they never answer their phones). His mom called back fairly quickly and they started on their way to the hospital. I called my family and they did the same. The contractions started getting pretty intense. They set me up with fluids as i was unsure if i wanted the epidural. 45 min into the fluid bag i decided that yes, i did want that epidural. Anesthesiology came by around 12. I had immediate relief from the pain of the contractions but felt a ton of pressure in my butt. I felt every contractions and was uncomfortable but not in pain (if that makes sense). Dr. broke my water and checked again- 7cm! Our families arrived around 1pm. The nurse let them come in to say hello but I quickly got them out of the room because i really felt the pressure in my butt. I told the nurse that i was really uncomfortable and felt like i needed to push.The dr came in and check me again and i was 9 with a little cervix. The nurse and dr. were amazed at how fast i was progressing and the amount of contractions i was having. They started prepping the room for me to push. Around 1:45, i was complete and the pushing started. Lucas was born at 3:04pm after only 5.5 hours of labor.

We are both doing really well. He is the cutest little boy in the world, but i might be biased. :-) I feel like i missed a lot but he is starting to fuss and needs to be fed. Thanks for all the support and entertainment throughout my pregnancy. This board was such a great support for me. Good luck to all those mommas still cooking!

EDIT: Oops, i forgot. He was 7lbs14oz and 21in :-)
