Toddlers: 24 Months+

Easter Basket question

Will you get a new one each year or re-use?  My kids are into containers and I'm certain they'll use them for months to load up and tote dolls, balls, leggos, whatever.  I have this fantasy of using them every year, even when they come home from college (project much?)... but is that silly?  I don't even remember what we did as kids...

Re: Easter Basket question

  • We used the same one every year (growing up). I would use this one again next year if it holds up.

  • I plan on using the same one every year as well. Growing up the EB left us new baskets each year.

I made it past my goal I nursed for 1 year and 6 weeks! Im so proud of myself!
  • My kids have used the same PBK ones for (well DD= 7 years), so the upfront cost is large but over time....

eta:  my parents bought those prefilled ones @ Wal-Mart...never knew what happened to the baskets each yr

  • Growing up most years the EB brought a new one yearly. Last year DD had an adorable Minnie head basket that id planned on using but unfortunatley it couldn't be packed so this year we had to get a new one. This one works but its not what I had in mind so shell need a newnone next year. Perhaps when I find the right one it'll be a reuse situation lol

  • We reuse.  I put them away after Easter so that they are not play toys.  We actually just got DH's old Easter basket from his mom this year, so we are using that one for presents and the one I bought last year for hunting eggs.

  • We used the sames ones each year growing up (my brother used the one my dad had as a child) so I want to use the same one each year.  DD has a PBK one I bought when she was 5 months old.

  • I got the girls matching baskets that seem pretty durable and are very cute for $15.  I plan to reuse them each year.  I always got one of the cheap woven baskets as a kid and it was destroyed 2 days after Easter.

My mom used the same basket for me every year.  I actually have my basket in our storage closet upstairs.  I bought DD a nice basket last year & re-used it this year.  I'm not sure it will hold up "forever" so I may look for a new nice one in the after Easter Sales that will hold up for many years to come.  My mom always put my basket up right after Easter.  I was not allowed to play with it & I really had no concept of playing with it because I thought the Easter Bunny came back and took it with him.

  • I got a cheap plastic one from target  (it was maybe 2 dollars) last year and reused it this year.  I also reused the eggs, and grass.  LO opened his basket took the stuff out and left the basket...so I might even reuse everything next year too.

I don't really get into easter baskets.  Maybe when he is older I will get something nicer, but for now this will work just fine.

  • We will reuse.  We used the same ones every year when I was growing up and I always looked forward to getting it out every year.

  • We make baskets/nests out of pyjamas, so the easter bunny can find the kid 'based on their scent'.

  • We never got baskets as a kid. We always got something somewhat useful- for me and my sister it would be something like an Easter bonnet, purse, fancy church shoes, and for my brother it was usually something for the start of little league (a baseball mitt, an equipment bag, batting helmet). Anyway, the candle would be in whatever we got. We didn't do egg hunts so we didn't readlly need baskets. I decided I'm going to try to do this with DD also.
  • I had a felt basket for him when he was 4 months, then last year I got him a cheap one at Walmart for $1.  This year I was a big spender and got one at Walmart for about $6 that I plan to keep as long as it will last (it's actually pretty nice).  I have a PBK liner I got on clearance for $1.99 the year he was born - I have yet to get it embroidered.

  • I got a metal Easter bucket from Target so it should hold up well, and I will definitely use it again next year
  • I had the same Easter basket growing up.  I actually still have it!  I bought DS a PBK basket and plan to reuse it year after year.

  • My mom got us really nice heavy ones when we were kids. We used them, yes, all the way through college lol and DD now uses my old one.
