I finally announced my pregnancy to the two men in our office this past Tuesday and was pleasantly surprised with their reactions (both of them are my superiors, whew). All the females have known for about a month now since we're a close group of gals so I felt pretty good this week to have that out in the open. Until today when I met one of those two male superiors at an agency to give a presentation where I learn upon my arrival that they are broadcasting my pregnancy on the giant scroll screen outside the building for all 6 lanes of traffic to see.... "JENNA IS PREGNANT"
Really???... I have no idea which of the two village idiots came up with that grand idea, but I found that i was very annoyed by it... Let the floodgates of embarrassment and inappropriate comments open....
MEN!
end vent

It's a girl!
My question is: Are either of them married?
If yes..... then obviously they didn't run it by their SO before blasting your life like that....
if No... then they probably think its a way to show how supportive they are and don't realize how embarrassing it is to have the world know that way.
I hope everyone continues to be supportive
I agree with this. But either way, it was totally inappropriate. Sorry you had to go through that!
I can see why you are upset, but really, it sounds to me like they were excited for you and just didn't think that maybe you didn't want it broadcast to your entire town (literally!) yet.
I would simply talk to them, thank them for being excited, but ask them to please take it down ASAP.
This. Men just don't think like we do, lol.
This. I am the only female in my department and the men are completely missing some sort of tact/sensitivity link in their brain. They just don't get it...
Remembering my angel baby, Ezekiel, 09/03/2011...you will forever be in my heart.
Ugh, I'm so sorry they did that to you!
My (male) boss announced my pregnancy to everyone at a formal dinner event we were having last night. With a group of perfect strangers. He was introducing his staff members and their SOs, and when he got to us he said, "This is Mr. and Mrs. Powell. They are newlyweds... and now they have one in the Easy Bake Oven." WTF? I wanted to crawl under the table.
