HoneyBaked Ham vs. store bought?

It's just going to be DH, the girls and me for Easter. I'm trying to decide between doing a store bought ham or buying a HoneyBaked Ham. I've always just done store bought and made a glaze, but a HoneyBaked sounds delicious right about now- plus, no extra work! The thing that's stopping me from ordering is the price. The mini ham is going for $30- $44! I know they are incredibly delicious, but at 2.5-4 lbs, that's like $12 per pound.

Thoughts?

Re: HoneyBaked Ham vs. store bought?

  • I'm not sure of the difference.  I just bought a ham bc it was $1.49/lb.  We aren't having Easter at home, but I figure I'll make it next weekend. I got 8lbs bc I love the left overs! Make sandwiches with it or make it with breakfast.  I think I'd go with the store bought and have some left overs :), but that's just me.

That's what I'm thinking. I've always had success glazing them myself. I don't know if I can justify that price for just the four of us. I guess I'm off to Kroger tomorrow!

  • As yummy as they taste, I would never spend the money on a Honey Baked Ham.  The store bought ones that I glaze at home myself taste just fine.

  • DH and I were going to get some ham, too, but even at the grocery store, it's crazy expensive.

Honeybaked Ham is SO good...the taste is pretty much worth the price!

  • If I didn't have half a ham in my freezer, I'd definitely be getting a honeybaked!  They are SOOO worth the price!!

We always do Honey Baked Hams and I'm getting one for Sunday. It's worth it to me and we eat on it for a week (it is just 3 of us too).

  • I live down the street from a Honey baked so I refuse to get one on holidays because the lines have already formed and they are ridiculous. That being said - they are delicious.

I have a couple of coupons for them look at the disclaimer on the bottom and see if they work in your area. If this link doesn't work, let me know and I can email the coupons. They are for $5 off any size and $29.99 for a 1/4 ham which is like 5 lbs.
