Ok this is a completely random question but I was just wondering about it. I have heard that you're not suppose to eat potatoes if they are green. Well what if they are just green around the peeling & you take all of the peeling off? I was going to make potato salad for dinner tonight (really craving it) but my potatoes have a few green parts on them. If anyone has any tips on green potatoes, I would really appreciate it! Thanks in advance & enjoy your day!

Re: Super random question for the day...
My understanding is that when the green is present, the toxins aren't just present in the green parts -- the green signals that the toxins are present throughout the potato. While eating a little likely won't hurt you, I don't know what impact even a little may have on a sensitive, developing fetus. I personally would not risk it.
ETA: Just did a quick Google. I would not eat them, if you're pregnant.
This link, for instance, has this to say about it: "It is advisable that green or damaged potatoes are avoided by pregnant women or women who are likely to become pregnant, as there is some evidence of possible foetal damage or loss of the foetus from glycoalkaloid poisoning in animals."
