Random bleeding at 6 weeks?

Ok, so yesterday I was scheduled for my first OB appt, (after the initial to confirm pregnancy) . About 10 minutes before my appt , i started bleeding brown .. like a decent amount, like when you first get your period. I freaked out and called the OB right away, stopped at home and got my husband (made him call out of work) and over to the OB. I got examined, and he said he only saw a little bit of brown blood --- but wants to stay optomistic. Said the cervix is closed nice and tight. He did however say that he wanted me to get another ultra sound done. They saw the fetal pole, gest sac and yolk. Just no heartbeat, which he explained it is still early. They drew more blood and sent me over to the u/s place. Same thing again (which was expected --it was only 3 days after my first u/s) they said everything looked good , except no heart beat. The bleeding has stopped as of now, and I only bled for less than an hour I am assuming. I am so nervous. Has anyone had this happen to them? I am 6 weeks along exactly, so I don't know what happened, but I am so scared I am goign to lose the baby again, had a miscarriage in Dec. What is the earliest that you can hear/see the baby's heart beat? Also, has anyone had this issue with bleeding randomly? Thanks in advance

Hi, I usually dont post here but read your post and wanted to respond.

The earliest would be 6 wks... Relax, I am not saying that it's totally normal but I'm saying that many women bleed or spot in the first trimester.  I bled during my first trimester and a little in my second but Thank God everything was fine.

its normal... at least thats what my high risk doctor told me. i bled after a belly ultrasound. it was brown and lasted for a hour. my what to expect when expecting says it normal also. what is not normal is bleeding bright red or red and having bad cramps or cramps with your belly tightening up.. thats actually implantation contractions. or just flat out contractions in the uterus. if you have any of that.. call your doctor

Ugh, I know the waiting is TORTURE.  We also went thru this w/a m/c in Nov.  Are you POSITIVE you know your conception date, or when you ovulated?  Even if you are just a few days off, you could be at a point where the heart has literally just started to beat.  I think at 6 wks, most u/s machines should be able to pick up a HB.  We went in last Friday, and we could clearly see a HB (flicker inside the embyro) very clearly, but it was low, 89 b/c dr said it had just started to beat.  He also said it looked more like 5w5d, not 6w like I thought, so that makes even more sense.  I personally ovulate at CD 23, so would make sense by LP was Feb 11, but I am only this far along b/c I didn't ovulate till March 2... 

In all honesty, I do think if you truly are 6w along, there should be a small flicker or something from what I've researched...  But just wait till your next u/s, and I will bet my last dollar you are not as far along as you think.  Levels tell so much too, so if your HCG and prog are good, that is a great sign   I have a good friend who just went in at 5w5d, and no HB, but 2 wks later, HB was very strong and she's now 12w along! 

Also, as long as it's brownish blood, no reason to worry!

I actually had a huge red bleed this morning. Totally sucks! Everything checked out at the ultrasound though so that is reassuring. I'm 7w1d.

I had bright red bleeding at 6 weeks exactly. Went in for U/S at 6w 1d and baby was fine and saw a heartbeat. For a week after that, I bled brown gooey stuff after BM's. But so far so good.

I also bled when I was 6 weeks exactly  with my daughter. I woke up with red blood all over my pants. Being rh- i had to get my shot and they sent me home and told me to stay on bed rest until I was 3 months along. Then i had brown blood for the next few days. I hope you best of luck! God Bless
