Hi everyone!
I wanted to introduce myself and ask a few questions. First, congratulations to all of you ladies! My name is Danielle and today I am 9 weeks. DH and I were successful with our first IVF. The pregnancy was progressing perfectly until Wednesday. I had my ultrasound in the morning, baby looked great, heart rate was strong. We even graduated from the RE that morning. No more than 2 hours later, I began gushing bright red blood and passing huge clots. I really thought it was over. Went to the ER, where I waited 7 hours, all along hysterical believing I was miscarrying. I was finally taken back to the u/s, which was an ancient machine but they saw the heart beating away. Luckily, the bleeding stopped and my cervix was closed. I was released with a diagnosis of threatened miscarriage.
The next day, I returned to the RE and they found a subchorionic hemorrhage, but baby was still looking good. The RE said the SCH was in a "good" spot & should not affect the baby. I was advised to stay on modified bed rest, which I did. I had no bleeding at all until Sunday morning when the red bleeding started again accompanied with severe cramping. I went to the RE and again u/s showed a healthy baby but the SCH had gotten larger. Thankfully, my cervix was still closed and the bleeding tapered off by 7pm. I returned to the RE yesterday for another u/s, where everything was right on track but the SCH had grown overnight. The RE I had today had a different opinion than the RE Id been seeing. I asked her if it's still in a "good" spot and she said "well, no it's surrounding the baby." She basically told me we just have to wait and see, continue bed rest & stay hydrated. Oh, and to most likely expect to bleed again.
So, I guess my questions are: has anyone else had a large SCH? How has it affected your pregnancy? What did your Dr. suggest? I am so freaked out by this whole thing. I am constantly checking to see if the bleed has started again, and obsessively searching the Internet for information. I have my first appt with my OB Wednesday, where I hope to get more answers.
Im sorry this is SO long and thank you all so much for reading! I wish you all happy & healthy pregnancies and look forward to getting to "know" everyone!

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. I wish I had some advice for you. Hopefully the SCH will go away soon and you can focus on having a healthy pregnancy.
I started to bleed from my SCH at 9 weeks I am 11 Weeks and 5 days today and still have brown discharge from it. My SCH is pretty small 2 cm but I have bleeding it out for 2 weeks now. At my OB appt at 10 weeks it was still present and has not shrunk. My OB said there is always a threat of m/c with a SCH but most of the time it resolves it's self. I have just been told no exercise or intercourse until the bleed stops. I am sorry you are dealing with this. I know how stressful it is. ((HUGS))

Our IVF miracle, Baby Boy M, arrived on 11/8/2012!
I had a giant SCH - about twice the size of the baby at 10.5 weeks. I had several large bleeds, a few ER trips, and modified bed rest up until 20 weeks. At my 20 week a/s there was no sign of the SCH.
I know how scary it is, but mine was all of the worst case scenarios (larger than the baby, located in a not so good spot) and it was fine. Take it easy and you should be fine. Lots of us on this board have had them - so if you have more questions or need support this is a great place to come.
First IVF: Started BCP 10/4, Mock Transfer 10/12, Trigger 11/1, ER 11/3 (32 retrieved, 16 fertilized) - ET 11/8 (transferred two perfect day 5 blasts, 5 more embies frozen). BFP @4dp5dt Beta #1 11/17 = 145! Beta #2 = 996! Pregnant with twins! Lost baby B @8weeks. Perfect baby girl born in July. All of our dreams have come true!
