Thoughts? Suggestions for middle names?

We don't like unique/weird names, but don't care for popular names either. Our last name is only one syllable.

Yep, Garen is pronounced as "Daren". It can also be spelled with two R's. I believe it means "guardian"

I was thinking Jared Nathan too, but I have a co-worker (who I'm close with - same crowd at work), whose name is Nathan.. Wouldn't it be weird? I'm not really naming my kid after him. I just like the name and the meaning. Because of that, I'm considering Nathaniel instead, but not sure if I like it better.

Both are nms, but I like Jared much better than Garen.

I think Jared is great- everyone knows how to spell/pronounce it, but it's not that common either.

When i saw Nathan i thought it actually read Nathaniel I think that it sounds better and goes very well with Jared.

Garen. Jared seems dated to me, I can't stand it.

I definitely prefer Jared.  Garen strikes me as both "unique" and weird.

I've never heard of Garen before, and it definitely strikes me as weird, particularly if it's pronounced Daren.

Jared is nms but I don't have a problem with it.
