That is all I was yelling all night at the dog.  Every time I turn my back, the dog runs over and tries to hump S. He's a dachshund so they are the same size.  And S thinks it is hysterical.  But come on dog!  Enough already.  He is fixed (and 10.5 years old) so I can't figure out why all of a sudden he is doing this. I know it is a sign of dominance but S has been around 8 months already. Why start now?

Funny thing - why I start yelling at the dog, S cries and gets upset. Not sure if he is crying because I am yelling in general or because the dog is getting yelled at. He loves his puppy!

Any suggestions or advice?

My dog tried this once. She's 50 lbs so it scared the crap out of me.

No advice for you....I'm sure that's hard to yell at the dog when it just makes LO cry

Is S getting more floor time? Or moving around a lot? I noticed my big dog trying to show dominance over R when she started crawling. I handled it very quickly and she hasnt done it since.

fixed or not, humping is a sign of dominance.  the dog is trying to assert himself higher in the pack order than your kid.  nip it in the bud asap.

I'm not saying he'll bite your kid, but the dog needs to know he's not higher on the foo
