Intro and birth story

Hi! My LO is 3 weeks old and I have been mostly a lurker for much of my pregnancy but I was pretty active on TTCAL for awhile and I'm hoping to be more active on this board too. : )

I had my first contraction on March 5th at 5 am ( I had been up all night nesting) and then had a contraction about every hour until my ob appt. at 1 pm. He said I was 2 cm. dilated and 80% effaced, and he thought I would probably have the baby in the next couple days. They started to get a little closer together and riding in the car was very uncomfortable so my DH went to pick my SD's up from school while I stayed home. We took them to dance class and on the way home at 6pm started timing ctx at about 5 min. apart. We finally realized I was going to have the baby sooner rather than later and I called my OB and birth coach (my aunt) and headed to the hospital at 7pm. The ctx were 3-4 min. apart and I was starting to have back labor.

They checked me in triage and I was 4-5 cm. dilated, so I was admitted around 7:30 pm. My birth coach was amazing. I had horrible back labor and she massaged my back and talked me through every contraction, reminding me to breathe. The OB wanted to break my water somewhere around 7 cm. but I said no bc I was progressing just fine, and then the ctx got really rough. Transition SUCKED but it went quickly I think and my water broke at 9 cm. A contraction later, I felt the need to push so my dr.'s came in and got me on my back. That was the only thing I was really unhappy about bc I did NOT want to deliver on my back and the back labor made that position incredibly painful. I pushed for about an hour and a half and Logan Bentley was born at 11:48 pm.!

I'm so incredibly happy to have him here and even though some things have been a struggle, we're extremely lucky and blessed to finally have a healthy take home baby!
