C-sections

Orgasm after C section

I know penetrative intercourse is off the table for the first 4-6 weeks to give the cervix time to close and the incision site time to heal without putting pressure on it, but what about just orgasm from fooling around, manual stimulation, etc? Seems like it should be okay, especially for BF moms whose uteruses are already contracting every time we feed.

Anybody know? This is one I'm not in a hurry to ask the OB helpline. lol

ETA: I don't know if it matters, but I never dilated beyond a tight 3, and I didn't push.

Re: Orgasm after C section

  • IDK, but that is something I would like to know too. I have been on pelvic rest since my 23rd week, including orgasms! I am 2wks pp, and hoping that I can atleast start having some sort of action again, ha!

  • I did find a few forum posts on various sites through a Google search, and pretty much everybody thought that orgasms were okay after about 2 weeks, but I couldn't find any real articles or reliable info.

I'm leaning toward yes, but I don't know if I should trust my instinct this time...

Frustrating! I'm ready for some action too.

  • Nothing in there. You can still have an orgasm as long as nothing is going in your baginga to get there. Your placenta left a large hole and that is why they (dr world) worry about infection.

  • We did stimulation...it was needed :) Just nothing inside!

  • It would just help your uterus contract the same as breast feeding helps (obviously different ways) so I would assume you'd be okay as long as you don't put anything in there!

  • My discharge instructions specifically addressed this - nothing until your incision check at 2 weeks. If everything is okay there, then nothing in the vagina, period, until 6 weeks. But orgasm was ok.

Well awesome, then! I am so excited! After house arrest for this long, it won't take much to get there, I am sure.

  • Thanks, gals! :) It's nice to know that I don't have to be completely celibate for the next 4 weeks.

My dr doesn't do incision checks at 2 weeks. It's so interesting how drs are basically doing the exact same surgery and have such different protocols.

  • My doctor never said no sex.  She said that because I had a c-section it was completely up to us, to be cautious, no pressure or tension on the site or my muscles.  But it was up to us "if you can handle the bleeding" she said.  Regardless *confession*  we actually had sex less than a week after, but not because we were "horny"...it was because we needed comfort in a much more intimate way.  Our lives had been turned upside down(emergency c-section at 25 weeks 2 days).  With that being said.  I was super careful and so was he and it didn't last long.  I wouldn't recommend it necessarily because it's definitely not the safest since I just had a HUGE surgery.

This. We had sex 3 weeks after my emergency c-section at 26 weeks. Just a little piece of normal during all the chaos. You could barely tell I was pregnant though, so I'm wondering if having a full term belly with the scar would make it worse? I had a vertical incision inside, horizontal on the outside and I had NO feeling up to my belly button (don't know if that's normal...) so it was a kind of out of body feeling.
