Natural Birth

Childbirth Without Fear book

Has anyone read this book? I have tried FOR WEEKS to get this from amazon and it won't ship until a week before the baby is due (due at the beginning of May). None of the book stores around me sell it and thrones on amazon are expensive from private sellers.

Before I spend the money, is the book worth it. Did it help you? Or are there a few general takeaways and not worth reading cover to cover??

Please let me know! Thanks ;)

Re: Childbirth Without Fear book

  • Is that the Grantly ***-Read book?  There's a kindle version and if you have a droid phone or iphone/ipad/ipod you can download the kindle reader.  I think there's other ways to read kindle books too if you look on Amazon.  I haven't read it yet but that's how I bought it.

  • I was able to find it at my library. But yes, in answer to your question, it was a very good book. A little dated, yes, but it was actually the first natural childbirth book I read (while pg with DD) and it all made so much sense!

  • well, the censoring of his name is rather silly.  I was curious about it because of when it was written and the historical value of his book considering what he was up against back then.  Odd motivation but the medical historical value of it really intrigued me to buy it.  glad to hear that it otherwise was useful...I'm so hooked on reading the birth stories in the 2 ina may gaskin books but maybe I'll take a break and read that for a bit too.

  • I enjoyed the book. This guy was the pioneer of "modern" low-intervention chidbirth and is the one who actually coined the phrase Natural Childbirth way back when. The book is quite old, but I think it has stood the test of time well. If you have read Bradley stuff, you will recognize that Bradley pulled a lot from this guy.

Does you local library have it?
