I want to write a thank you email for a job interview. The problem is that I don't think I really want the job. It's 10 miles further from my house, in a bad area and the work is more complicated than I expected. I would consider it if the money was really good but otherwise, it's definitely not worth it. I still want to be polite but am unsure of what to say other than thanking him for his time and providing me with information about the company and the job. Thanks!
Re: Help with wording of TY
If you were to get the job could you negotiate salary or is it possible they may have a future position that will have less complicated responsibilities with increased pay? If yes, then I would write the traditional TY note including a cpl sentences on what you can bring to the company. You can always decline the offer.
If you're positive this is not the direction you want to go then keep the TY brief thanking the interviewer for their time, consideration and company knowledge.
Exactly this. They may surprise you with the comp pkg. Just wait until you see what they give you before saying anything to them about your potential lack of interest. But if you are 110% sure you wont take the job no matter the pay and no matter what arrangements they make for you then thank the interviewer for their time, consideration and company knowledge and leave it at that.
