Baby Names

FAV name taken : (

The majority of my family lives in Venezuela while DH?s family lives here.  We want to find a name that can be said similarly in both languages.  Since I was a little girl, I?ve loved the name Isabella and DH who is very picky about names loves it too!  The only problem is that one of my first cousins named her daughter Isabel Eugenia.  She was the first cousin to have kids and Isabel happens to be a very fun little girl so she?s quite a hit with my Dad?s side of the family.

Common sense tells me, Isabella is just too similar of a name and I have to give it up, so sad!  It won?t be a problem with my mom?s side or DH?s entire family.  But what do you ladies think?  Just too similar?

It?s hard enough picking a boy name and a girl name (we may be team green) that works in both languages let alone letting go of your dream name but I do want to be rational and make the right decision for LO!

  • How about Annabelle? Or Annabella?  It's similar and I think it can be said the same in both languages, right?

  • I don't think it's a problem for you to have an Isabella. Are they cousins who will spend a lot of time together? Will they be similar ages?

A friend has a baby Dave and her brother has a David - so these two will be first cousins. But they were both named after her dad, and they both felt strongly about it. (I think their boys are as close as 6 months apart.)

There are lots of nicknames you can use for Isabella, so I really think that if you and your DH can't find anything else that you both love as much, it's fine to call your little one Isabella.
