We got the big news yesterday

DH and I have a two year old daughter and just found out we will be having twins.  To say we were shocked would be an understatement.   We are a little more scared right now than excited.  I know it will be a beautiful thing, but I just can't get over the shock.  Twins do not run in our families.  I will be looking towards this board for lots of support and advice.

Your feelings are perfectly normal.  We found out at 12 weeks and I don't think I got excited until just last week at 17 weeks.  It takes a while to sink in and even then there are still worries.  Just take it one day at a time.

Congrats!!  Sheer nervousness is perfectly normal.  Just breathe and take it all in.

Congrats and welcome! Your feelings are totally normal, as pp have said. Do you know if the twins are monozygotic or dizygotic? I'm guessing that since you say twins don't run in your family, they must be mono? Anyway you will find lots of support from the wonderful ladies on this board. If you want to check out a great book with tons of info on twin (and higher order multiple) pregnancies, get the book When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads (I think that was the title... my brain is mush right now... but anyway something like that) by Barbara Luke. I thought it was very helpful and a lot of people on this board really recommend it.

My son was the same age your daughter is now when our twins were born. It's a crazy ride .

Thanks for the advice about the book..  A friend of mine is going to lend it to me.  I am not  sure if the babies are identical or fraternal.  The ultrasound tech told me they were monozygotic, but my ob told me it was too soon to tell.  I have another appt at 12 weeks, so maybe I will get more info then.
