Suggestions on my next steps

Hi Ladies,

I have been more of a lurker than a poster in the past.  I am sorry about that, but you ladies are a wealth of knowledge.  I really appreciate your board.  I promise to be a more active particiapant.

I am 36 YOA and I have 20 month old child.  I was pregnant with my second last fall and a missed misscarriage was discovered last fall at about 10 weeks.  I had to take Cytotec twice.  I have been trying for my second child again for the past six months, charting, perfect timing...and no luck.  I need to call my OB to schedule a WTF appointment.  This is where I need suggestions from you ladies.  What test should I ask her for to start with.  I am expecting my period to start tomorrow or the next day.  Should I call and ask for CD3 bloodwork to start?

Thanks!

J

Re: Suggestions on my next steps

  • I am sorry for your loss.

Yes I would start with CD3 bloodwork.  If something out of the ordinary shows on your blood work, your OB may refer you to an RE for further testing (for instance I don't think most OB's test AMH levels but RE's offices can).  However if everything looks normal on your side, you may want to get a referral anyway to an RE and have your DH do a SA to make sure he doesn't have any problems.  Good luck!

  • **Siggy warning**

Hi.  I'm a graduate of this board and mostly lurk now but I thought I would add to this post by telling you not to let the doctors pat you on the head and tell you that sometimes it "just takes time"....They may be prone to do this because of your success of conceiving in the past.  If you feel like something is out of the normal range for you, be insistent on some preliminary b/w, etc... It will put your mind at ease or it may identify something you will need to deal with.  I wish that I had been more 'aggressive' in my conversations with my doctors early on.

My BFF (conveived but m/c early) and my sister (two childern) have both been, in essence, ignored by their doctors since they have been able to concieve previously.

    Good Luck!!

  • Thanks for the advice.  I see the doc on cycle day three this week and I am going to push for the bloodwork.
