You responded to my spinning post the other day and said you are currently doing spinning and body pump. Well that's actually what I was doing before I got pregnant too, 2 days spinning, 2 days body pump and 2 day pilates. So I decided to go back to body pump this morning and it felt great to be back!
Anyways my question is - are you modifying the exercises at all when you lay on your back (chest press, tricep "skull crushers", etc?). Just wondering how big of an issue it is - maybe it's not that big of a deal since you are only laying on your back for maybe 3-5 minutes max at a time?
Re: ***jworkman1980* re: body pump classes
Body pump and spinning are my 2 fav's
Did you know they have a pump at home program? I became a beach body coach to get the discount b/c I ordered the cross training deluxe that comes with the bonus attack, step and combat discs
If you want more info I can send you my coach site! Did you take any of those 3 classes at your gym? I am a big fan of combat and attack but not really step lol.....not that coordinated. I did Insanity and the Asylum before getting pregnant and still do a little Insanity with modifications of course
As far as body pump.......I do modify the bench when I do chest and abs....or anything else on my back. I use two of the risers on one side and none on the other.......kind of makes the chest presses harder but that's what one of my instructor friends did the whole time she was pregnant so I learned from her. Sometimes when I do squats I feel some pressure low by my hip bone......I hope I am not crushing the baby LOL! My husband is military and with moving around a lot it's such a pain to join a gym everywhere that we go. My first at home program was Insanity, then The Asylum, then my husband bought me a spin bike b/c he knows I miss teaching and doing it and now Pump.......so I have my little at home gym and I love it. Will definitely help when our little beanie baby arrives
Hi Ladies,
Thought I would chime in, I am a certified Body Combat instructor here in Canada. Still teaching too! With my first pregnancy I made it to 32 weeks.
I wanted to advise you to talk with your Pump Instructor about modified moves, positions. LMI (the company that makes these workouts) has a lot of tips for Pumpers who are pregnant!
Have fun at the gym!!
Leah
Wow that's awesome - sounds like you have a great set up at home! Sure send me the link to your coach site.
Can you PM it to me?
I've taken Step before, and Kick boxing (AGES ago though) but no combat. I really have been out of the whole gym thing for a few years other than using the treadmills and weight machines, because for 5 years when I was single I lived in a downtown loft that had a pretty decent sized gym practically outside my front door that we could use for free - but no classes. Then my last pregnancy I just stopped working out altogether (terrible) and didn't start again until my kid was close to a year old (terrible terrible terrible). So anyways, I was JUST getting back into the swing of things going to spin and body pump for about 3 months prior to this pregnancy, took a 3 month break and now am ready to get back to it again. I do not want to take another 1.5 year hiatus!
I am terrible about working out at home - haven't done Insanity or P90X or 30DS... Although I definitely have the free time after DS goes to bed at 7:30 so I definitely COULD... But for now the 6am classes seem to be good for me. The class atmosphere motivates me and I go to a very "keeping it real" gym where there aren't a bunch of meat heads (actually it's a lot of old people, lol) and everyone is really helpful and friendly. And it's also about a 4 minute drive away so not bad at all. I'm back before DS gets up so it works out well! I'm sure Baby #2 being born will throw our entire schedule off though, so I may need to try something home based for a while at that point.
Thanks for the tip about the bench! I'm sure everyone will think I'm insane but I'll do the incline thing at the next class.
I will definitely mention it to her next time - I got there at the VERY last minute before class started today so no time, but I think she may have noticed my very small bump. I saw her eyeing me. Or maybe she was just watching my form - who knows
Here is my site: https://beachbodycoach.com/esuite/home/spingrl
I am not trying to solicit anyone to buy the programs from me........I am just a firm believer in their programs b/c I've done 3 of them
You can see from my profile before and after pics that they do in fact work LOL! I basically signed up to be a coach b/c it's free for military and I used to drink Shakeology so the discount was worth it. If you go to my page click on shop.......if you click on the blue link it will give you more package options because some come with more stuff than others. I got the cross training deluxe b/c it came with the step, risers and those bonus discs
I bet it feels great getting back to it! I was hardcore when my husband was in Afghanistan a year ago but when he came home my diet became non-existent LOL! And now even more so
I used to love grilled chicken, salads, veggies.....now all I want is chocolate, potatoes and spicy food HA HA! I'm sure as our tummies grow we will have to modify a lot of things b/c our bump will get in the way
