i think it depends on the job.  My job would never let me take 4 weeks off in a row.  Not only would HR poo poo the idea, but I couldn't come back after 4 weeks and catch up.  I think even two weeks two months in a row would be tough, but it depends on the job.

I would take it in the beginning of July and the end of the summer (can you do the last week of August into Labor Day?).

opps sorry, i have the option of taking a full month off in august or to split it up however i want. so i was thinking the last two weeks in july. and the last two weeks in aug before my dc starts school. i am just undecided and have to put my time in soon.

If I had that option I'd take off 1 week in May, 1 in June, 1 in July and 1 in August.    Or I'd take off every Friday in May, Every Monday in June, Every Wednesday in July and then the last week of August.

Totally depends on the kids schedule and what the rest of the year is like.  Hard to just give a balnket answer.  Given that my oldest will be at summer camp the last week of July and 1st 2 weeks of Aug, I would take the last 2 weeks of Aug off and then 2 weeks in early July (over the 4th timeframe) but that is totally based on the kids schedule.
