taking the plunge into family cloth

Well, at least I am.  H looked at me when I told him and asked me who the heck I was, lol.  I bought a ton of small baby washcloths and some new wetbags specifically for my bathroom and will wash them tomorrow and then start using them.  I'm a little nervous I'm going to accidentally try to flush one.

Can you ladies who do family cloth give me some courage?  Does it work well for you?

Re: taking the plunge into family cloth

  • I do it and I FREAKING LOVE IT now!

Just put the cloth in the bag before you stand up.  I did drop one in the toilet once (oops), and one in the trash, but I quickly realized what happened, so no biggie.  Also, (TMI but) I use my diaper sprayer as a bidet or wipe once or twice with paper TP if there's a #2 involved.

I have noticed I'm 90% less "icky" feeling at the end of the day in the lady area since switching.  Definitely less leave-behinds too.

Enjoy!  It's so so so addicting.  You'll probably soon hate having to use paper when you're out and about.

  • I use the same setup you are using for #1 only for myself.  Love it.  It works out beautifully.  I just dump the wetbag into the diaper pail liner when I'm on the way to the washing machine.  It's awesome.

  • I have to "go green" slowly with DH...but he is supportive once we've made the switch to something new (once he gets the complaining out of his system!) When I mentioned this (as a joke) he TOTALLY freaked out. He plainly said "NO F'in way". I replied, "you do it for your daughter, and why would you care? I'm the one who does laundry!" I let it go, but it's on the back burner and he knows it will come back around!

Yeah h looked at me and told me I am a totally different woman than the one he married. :) Apparently having a child has made me rethink a few things.

Well you were right already. I don't know why I didn't do this sooner, it's so much better than regular tp.
