Best place for infant during tornado?

Will likely be spending afternoon in interior bathroom due to severe weather in TN. Is it best to put DS in his car seat or strap him to me in the ergo? They are saying 90% chance of tornados....

Scary!  I would say I'd want him strapped to me - but if the car seat is safe during a car accident it might give some protection if the worst were to happen. Although I'd be afraid of him getting picked up by the wind and thrown a long distance.  That's a tough one.

Oh god, that's so scary! I think I would want him strapped to me- but I don't know if that really is the safest thing, that's just what would make me feel better. Stay safe!!!

Where in TN are you...I live in Nashville. I am dreading all this weather, especially since we are on the 3rd floor renting a place...it makes me want to throw up thinking about a plan...

I actually just hear about this on the radio the other day! I don't remember if a study was done or if a Dr just noticed that during a recent tornado a 10 day old (?) and another baby survived a tornado when others near them did not because they were strapped in their carseat. I'm going to try to go a google search/try to find it on the radio's website.

 

edit: gah! can't find it and J is getting restless. i did find this "article" though that states carseat or carrier. prayers for you and your LOs safety!

I am in Knoxville. We haven't had them as bad as other parts of the state but it is still been pretty scary. I was wondering what to do, too.
