My dog has pancreatitis :-(

Has anyone gone through this? I'm a freaking mess. Her stomach is distended 4x it's normal size and she tested positive for pancreatitis. She has to stay at least two overnights at the vet. I have no idea what she could have eaten. They did find two undigested non-food masses in her stomach. They don't think they're rumors but something she ate. I don't know what she could have gotten into. I'm so careful with things like that.

Im trying to stay calm but with my hormones it's not easy :-(

  • Oh no!  Hoping for a quick recovery!!
  • I'm pretty sure my dachshund has this in addition to her other gastrointestinal issues. The vet put her on some special kind of low-fat food and that's it. She's on steroids full-time now for her other issue, but I don't think the pancreatitis is really a big issue. What'd you vet say?

Theres chronic and acute pancreatitis. Hers is the acute I guess. It's the first time this has happened. Her pancreas is extremely swollen and not producing the enzymes to digest food. She has several days worth of food just sitting in her stomach. She would still take food and go to the bathroom so it took it getting bad to realize it. She is not allowed food or water for 3-4 days. She's on IV with enzymes and things. This should make her pancreas go down and produce enzymes to allow her to digest everything. I didn't ask what would happen if this didn't work. I can only handle one step at a time right now. The vet called at 6 and said she was doing ok. I can go up there tomorrow at 7am to check on her.
