How deep should dresser used as changing table be?

This might be a stupid question...

I am looking for a dresser to use as a changing table for LO#2. My changing pad is 17" wide. Would a 17" deep dresser work? I found one on Craigslist, but wasn't sure if it would need to a little larger. Thanks!

    Our pad was the same depth as the dresser. It worked out great.

     

    This.  We just used a storage unit thing from Ikea and put a changing pad on top.  I have decorative bins to store all the stuff in below.

    This for us too.  We maybe had an extra inch but it didn't make a difference at all.
