When does the super clingy phase end?

My boys just turned 17 mo and I'm about at my limit. I have a sinking suspicion the whiny clingyness isn't going away any time soon. Please tell me this lovely little phase ends at 18mo! <-- ha!

It is still keepin' on at 2 years. In fact, my pants get pulled to the ground at least twice a day from the hanging and clinging, and I hear, "Nooooo!  Mama do it!!!" like 450 times a day.  Mama has to do EVERYTHING, from carry them upstairs, to change diapers, to pour milk, to make toast, to get them a snack.  "Mama do!  MAMA DO!!!!!"

I love being loved, but man...

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • I hate to say it but I have to ditto Kim, my boys are 22 months old and we did have maybe a brief reprieve around 19/20 months or so but it has ramped up again in the last month or so.  The weird thing is one of my boys was more clingy than the other but recently they have switched and my other son is now more clingy.  I feel like my whole day is "Mom.  Mom.  Moooooom" and wanting to be picked up and held while I do every.single.thing.  Dry my hair, cook dinner, clean up, do laundry...everything.  Like Kim said, I love that they want me but holy shiz.

  • Same here at just over 2...I posted on another board a few days ago about this and got some good advice that I've tried. I'm not sure if your LOs will get it quite yet, but you could try it. Set a kitchen timer for 5 minutes and explain to them that you will sit with them and do what they want until the timer goes off, but when it beeps you will get up and (make dinner, put away laundry, etc.). Then set the timer for 10 mins while you are getting things done. Tell them that when it beeps again you will come back and sit with them. Repeat for however long you want.

I did this for an hour yesterday and got more done than I have in weeks. They really seemed to get it and understand that they can have mommy time, but that I need time to.
