weight loss...depressed

I was at my smallest size before I got pregnant. I gained 40lbs while pregnant, I have lost 20lbs but I am starting to get really depressed....I started my diet yesterday and already hate it. I just want to be the size I was before.

Anyone in the same position or have any helpful advice?

Re: weight loss...depressed

  • Same with me. I had actually lost 20 lbs right before I got pregnant. Gained 40 while I was pregnant, and have lost only 24 since I had DS. I feel horrible, but every one keeps reminding me that I JUST HAD A BABY! I haven't started working out yet, but I plan to soon. I've never dieted and don't plan to start. I'd much rather enjoy my food and work out more.

  • I gained 40 as well- I worked hard for years to get myself very fit and am frustrated that I am back at the size I was when I started that process and have major losses in the weight lifting dept-but DD is worth it...I am anxio9us to be active again and to lose the remaining 20 lbs but am trying to stay positive....patience is the only advice I canc ome up with-we need to recover and stay well for our LO (especially if BFing) and as much as I would love to drop the weight NOW I know it will come in time-also I don't "diet" I just track calories in/out and make sure I get my nutrients...I budget calories for a treat once a week (had a brownie today) and make sure I pick fruits I like, etc.  Hang int there
  • I gained 40 as well. I am not stressing about it yet until I get cleared to work out. It does suck, though, and I am anxious to lose the weight. I have lost 20 already.

  • I gained 45 and have lost it all, but my clothes don't fit! So it's not just the numbers it is the distribution of the remaining weight. I'm super frustrated.

  • I was the same with my first.  At 5 months PP I weighed myself and realized I had lost a total of 14 pounds.  That was it.  I started counting calories on myfitnesspal.com and by Canadian thanksgiving (so 3 months from when I weighed myself) I was only 7 pounds up from my pre-pregnancy weight.  So I would recommend a combination of counting calories and exercise (even just walking every day), but remember it still might take some time!

  • Ugh. I gained 50. I kept telling myself, "You're pregnant! You DESERVE that extra piece of chocolate cake." Right. DH and I went out to dinner tonight for Valentines' Day and I tried to fit into some of the clothes I wore pre-pregnancy. Not happening. I'm trying to cut myself some slack but it's hard.

Anyone want to start a weekly work out / weigh in / healthy eating type post? I'd love to have the support and camaraderie of you ladies while we try to lose this weight.

Me too. It's annoying since all my maternity clothes are waaaaaay to big but ally normal pants don't zip and button. I started running again this week and keep hoping each morning my pants will fit. I never ever thought I would say this, but I'm getting tired of yoga and sweat pants...

I like the idea of a weigh in post! How about Mondays?

  • Just think that at least 3 lbs of that is in your boobs:) Also, it took months to put on, it will take some time to come off. That will give your skin some time to shrink back too. If you lost it all overnight can you just imagine how saggy things would be? :/
  • I am 5lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight, but things are totally different in the mid section. I can't wait to work out!
